Biography
John Wayne Gacy was born on March 17, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois. He grew up with an abusive father who would physically abuse both the children and Gacy’s mother, Marian. As a child, Gacy had a congenital heart condition that that limited him to be included to play with other kids which left him alone with no friends.
As a young man he figured out that he was attracted to men in a time that being Gay was not as accepted as it is today. Back in the 50’s, being Gay was not something that was often discussed or admitted. It is believed that these repressed feeling are a big part of what lead to the violent behavior which lead to Gacy being nicknamed “Serial Killer Clown”. Gacy was a clown performer for kids parties and would go to hospitals where he would dress up as “Pogo the clown” and it is believed that sometimes during his killings he would dress up as this alter ego clown. A disturbing quote by gacy, “A clown can get away with murder” ( Crime Museum 1)
There is a video interview of Gacy where he states “ When I got into clown makeup, I regressed into childhood. It was fun being a clown because you could be yourself or just let yourself go and act a fool”. ( John Wayne Gacy 1)
Gacy lead a double life where he “worked as a fast food chain manager during the 1960’s and became a self-made building contractor and democratic precinct captain in the Chicago suburbs in the 1970’s. Well liked in his community, Gacy organized cultural gatherings and worked as a clown. He as married and divorced twice and had biological children and stepchildren.” ( GACY 1)
“In 1968, Gacy was convicted of sexually assaulting two teen boys and given a 10-year prison sentence. He was released on parole in the summer of 1970, but arrested again the following year after another teen accused Gacy of sexual assault. The charges were dropped when the boy didn’t appear during the trial”. ( John Wayne Gacy 1)
January 2, 1972 was the first time that Gacy committed murder. It is believed that it was not planned and that he picked up a 16 year old boy at the bus station and showed him around. He then lured him back to his house and after sexual activity stabbed the boy and buried him in a crawl space in his home. It is believed that this murder was impulsive but made Gacy feel empowered for the first time in regards to his sexuality.
After this first killing he went on to murder a documented number of 32 more boys and young men. He would lure them to his home by offering to pay them to do construction work and once he had the victims in his home he would sexually assault and kill them.
Most of the bodies were recovered at Gacy home and were buried in a crawlspace below his home, but others were recovered from a River that was close to Gacy’s home.
In 1978 Gacy finally got caught when the search for missing teenage boy lead to a search of Gacy’s house.
“After a short jury deliberation, Gacy was ultimately found guilty of committing 33 murders, and he became known as one of the most vicious serial killers in U.S. history. He was sentenced to serve 12 death sentences and 21 natural life sentences”. (John Wayne Gacy 2) Gacy died by lethal injection on May 10, 1994.

Eulogy
My brother, John Wayne Gacy, was a good man. He had a very challenging childhood, experiencing abusive from his dad at a young age. He also witnessed his mother being abused by his father. This takes a toll on you as a child. John grew up with a rare heart condition. This made him not able to hang out with other children during all the physical activities. Later on, John found he was gay which was still considered unacceptable. He was looked at by his father as a failure. So “At the age of 18 he set out to learn politics” (Wikipedia-Gacy 1). This made John later on want to become successful in opening his own contacting company. Which he followed through with and it was called P.D.M. Which stood for “Painting, Decorating and Maintenance” (John Wayne Gary 1)
John did some terrible things due to his horrific past. “He became known as the Killer Clown” ( Wikipedia-Gacy 1). The crimes my brother committed can not be justified. Looking back on his life, I want his 2 children to not be bombarded with murdering questions about their father. The “ 12 death sentences and 21 natural life sentences” ( Gacy 2) he received are for his unspeakable mistakes. My brother died “due to lethal injection in prison” (Gacy 1) that is hard on his kids enough. So this Eulogy will not end in a rest in peace, but rather a hoping for lives to move past these tragedies. The “ 12 death sentences and 21 natural life sentences” ( Gacy 2) he received are for his unspeakable mistakes.
End notes: The Eulogy is coming from Johns sister.Stating how she knows what her brother did was very wrong. Then ending with how she wants his 2 children to live a normal life.
